Article_one_photo.jpgWelcome from Simon J Robinson

We recently hosted the 2016 LBG Member Conference with many members, prospective members and community organisations in attendance. The conference theme ‘Leading the world in corporate community investment’ covered a range of topics including the sustainable development goals, LBG as a change agent for a more strategic approach to corporate community investment (CCI), shared value and measuring impact.

Importantly it was also the launch of our annual LBG Benchmarking Report and State of Corporate Community Investment survey results. This month’s newsletter provides an overview of both the benchmarking report and survey results which delivered interesting outcomes including positive results and identified challenges ahead for the CCI sector.

The conference itself provided an opportunity to reflect on these results as well as experiences and case studies from our members. It always serves as a good reminder that many of our members are in different phases of their CCI journey, and there was plenty of healthy debate and robust discussions about the future.

Most of all it reminded me that we have a group of people who are genuinely committed to utilising the LBG model and ensuring that there is a genuine approach to CCI reporting. For those of you who are not currently using the LBG methodology to measure your CCI contribution we urge you to sign-up for membership in 2017.

One of the highlights of the conference was the attendance of our international guest speaker Mr Mike Tuffrey, Co-founder of LBG and Corporate Citizenship. I had the opportunity to spend a week with Mike which included a jam-packed schedule of meetings with members and speaking events, and we were able to learn much from his extensive experience.

I’ve had feedback that many considered this year to be our best conference yet! We had more delegates than ever before. If you would like to provide any further feedback or have ideas on how we can make the conference even better in 2017 please send me a note to simon.robinson@corporate-citizenship.com.

Thank-you to everyone who attended this year’s conference and a special thanks to all of our guest speakers – we benefitted from your passion and expertise.

To our LBG members, congratulations on another great year and thank-you for all of your efforts in reporting your results for 2016. It is clear that many sectors of society have benefited from our efforts, evidenced by our results.
