The LBG Model

The LBG Model is a framework for measuring, benchmarking and reporting a company’s community contributions and achievements.

The model was developed to improve the way companies measure and manage their corporate community involvement.  The data gathered by systematic application of the LBG model allows companies and managers responsible for community investment to:

  • Account for their total community spend
  • Analyse the costs and benefits of community investment consistently
  • Improve management information to guide future strategy and community investments
  • Shift the debate from community investment costs to benefits
  • Capture and value the key areas of contribution eg time and in-kind giving
  • Improve internal communications.

In 1994, the LBG model was developed by six leading companies in the UK who wanted to be able to better account for and benchmark their community contributions.

There are now around 200 companies across the world using the LBG model, of which there are 45 in Australia & New Zealand and 123 in the UK*
